Pediatric Advanced Life Support


Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children.  PALS is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment.

The goal of this course is to provide pediatric healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children and help improve outcomes.  PALS covers pediatric emergencies; concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment; basic life support; PALS treatment algorithms; effective resuscitation; and team dynamics.

This is a fourteen (14) hour course that is usually held over two (2) days.  Student must complete a pre-assessment course which is available through the student manual that may be purchased through Channing Bete (See Below).  This course includes instructor demonstrations, videos, hands-on skills session and written tests.
Who Should Take This Course

PALS training is intended for medical professionals who specialize in pediatrics such as:  pediatricians; emergency room, family and other physicians; advanced practitioners; nurse and nurse practitioner; paramedics; intensive care and critical care providers; and other providers required to initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.
